Dallas Mavs ‘in control’ with arrival of huge games, says Carlisle – Grizzlies GAMEDAY
With just four NBA regular season games to go, the Dallas Mavericks are looking for their fifth straight win tonight against the Memphis Grizzlies.
The Mavs have won 10 of their last 12 games to clinch the Southwest Division title. Dallas, currently fifth in the Western Conference standings, can land a playoff spot with any combination of two Mavs wins or two losses by the Los Angeles Lakers.
No wonder, as part of the pre-game visit with Rick Carlisle, the Mavs coach spoke confidently of what could be on the horizon.
“These four games are huge”, Rick said. “We’re really in control of what’s going on here. We have to keep really focusing possession over possession and working the game from whistle to whistle.”
It’s a remark that concerns both Dallas’ ability to deal with these enemies … and perhaps to keep technical foul-prone Luka Doncic still eligible.
The Memphis Grizzlies, currently ninth in the West, have won back-to-back games and have already secured a berth in the play-in tournament. Memphis could still squeeze into seventh or eighth place depending on how the Lakers and Golden State Warriors end the season.
BACK BACK: The last time these two teams met, Luka Doncic grabbed the headlines when he nailed an incredible three-point winning streak to give the Mavs a 114-113 victory in Memphis.
FUN FACT: Tuesday night’s game will mark the 100th regular-season meeting between the two franchises, where Dallas leads the all-time series, 69-3.
INJURY REPORT: Maxi Kleber is questionable (Achille right) but should play … and Kristaps Porzingis is absent (Right Knee).

LAST WORD: Coach Rick Carlisle has said it would be optimal to bring Porzingis back to Doncic-led roster for every conceivable reason.
“No doubt about it – for the conditioning, for the chemistry, for the rhythm, for things having to do with the system,” Carlisle said. “It’s important to have those kinds of reps in play situations as well as in practice situations.”
COMING SOON: This is the first stop in a back-to-back game for the Mavs before returning home to host the New Orleans Pelicans on Wednesday.
